Halosil International Partners with Wickenburg Community Hospital to Reduce HAI Infections Through a Lean, Efficient Whole Room Disinfection Strategy
NEW CASTLE, DE (November 20, 2017) — Wickenburg Community Hospital (WCH), a nonprofit hospital in rural Arizona, has partnered with Halosil International, to disinfect its operating rooms, Acute Care Unit, and clinics using the Halo Disinfection System.
For WCH, the adoption of Halosil’s whole room disinfection system is part of an ambitious expansion that includes a new surgery and joint replacement center and the hospital’s commitment to preventing hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). The Halo Disinfection System is proven to kill even the most resistant HAIs, and reaches those HAI-causing spores that are beyond the reach of manual and UV disinfection methods. In fact, the system is EPA-validated to kill 99.9999 percent of C. difficile spores in the healthcare environment.
WCH selectedHalosil’s solution after carefully weighing multiple decision-making factors, including system efficacy, affordability and ease of use. The staff was trained to use the Halo Disinfection System with no down time or additional labor costs.
A central pillar of the Halo Disinfection System is the HaloFogger, a hands-free fogging device that delivers uniform coverage of Halosil’s HaloMist disinfectant throughout every room. HaloMist harnesses the oxidizing power of hydrogen peroxide by infusing it with proprietary oligodynamic technology. The HaloFogger’s proprietary dry fogging delivery makes it safe for use around delicate medical electronics.
As a nonprofit, WCH is intent on running a lean, efficient operation. As a federally designated Critical Access Hospital, WCH provides patient care in surrounding rural communities positioned within a geographic area encompassing 3,300 square miles.
Since the Halo Disinfection System was introduced, WCH has reported no outbreaks of HAIs.
“We are very happy with the foggers, from using them in the OR to the Acute Care Unit and even at our clinic,” says Karen Smith, Infection Prevention Manager. “We are using Halosil every day in the surgical suites, for all terminal isolation cleans, and at the clinics for suspected infectious cases, as well as a weekly clean just to try and reduce the overall bioburden left behind this cough and cold season.”
Adds Maryalice StClair, vice president of Business Development at Halosil, “Since 1926, WCH has been a trailblazer, putting patients and families first in its commitment to quality healthcare. In choosing the Halo Disinfection system, WCH upholds that tradition while positioning the hospital for continued healthy growth in the future.”
