Halosil International and Beebe Healthcare Partner to Reduce HAI Infections through Whole Room Disinfection Technology

NEW CASTLE, DE (February 7, 2017) — Beebe Healthcare, a renowned Delaware-based health system, recently partnered with Halosil International, a leader in whole room disinfection and infection control, to disinfect its patient and operating rooms using the Halo Disinfection System®.

For Beebe, the adoption of Halosil’s whole room disinfection system marks a new pinnacle in the fight against hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). The Halo Disinfection System is proven to kill even the most resistant HAIs, and reaches those HAI-causing spores that are beyond the reach of manual and UV disinfection methods. In fact, the system is EPA-validated to kill 99.9999 percent of C. difficile spores in the healthcare environment.

Beebe Healthcare selected Halosil’s solution after carefully weighing multiple decision-making factors, including system efficacy, affordability and ease of use. “Our adoption of the Halo Disinfection System is a continuation of our commitment to delivering high quality healthcare. Whole room disinfection is integral to keeping the healthcare environment safe for patients, visitors and employees,” said Kathi Fryling, Director of Support Services at Beebe Healthcare.

A central pillar of the Halo Disinfection System is the HaloFogger™, a hands-free fogging device that delivers uniform coverage of Halosil’s HaloMist™ disinfectant throughout every room. HaloMist harnesses the oxidizing power of hydrogen peroxide by infusing it with proprietary oligodynamic technology. The HaloFogger’s patented dry fogging delivery makes it safe for use around delicate medical electronics.

Today, fogging is conducted by Beebe Healthcare’s Environmental Services Department, a skilled team that has assumed a proactive role in keeping the healthcare environment safe and infection free. “Our Environmental Services Department is a professional and well-trained team that knows how to leverage the tools and disinfectants available to protect our patients,” said Tim Gwaltney, Manager of Environmental Services at Beebe Healthcare.

According to Maryalice StClair, VP of Business Development at Halosil, a hospital’s commitment to implementing a defined whole room disinfection regimen is an essential ingredient in reducing HAIs. “The Halo Disinfection System’s full value can only be realized when a committed environmental services team uses the system. Beebe Healthcare’s Environmental Services Staff is doing just that.”

In addition, Beebe Healthcare is measuring the system’s impact using a monthly report card that tracks how many rooms are fogged against infection rate improvements. While the Halo Disinfection System is currently being used in Beebe Healthcare’s medical center in Lewes, the health system looks forward to integrating the system into its outpatient facilities in the future.

“We are thrilled to partner with Beebe Healthcare,” said Maryalice. “While we serve providers all over the globe, we are proud to call Delaware our home. Beebe Healthcare is proactively working to improve the health of our local community. We passionately share in this mission.”
