Halo Disinfection System® is Subject of White Paper Published in American Journal of Infection Control (AJIC)

New Castle, DE (March 24, 2022) — Halosil International, Inc., the leader in whole room disinfection across a wide range of environments, has announced that its Halo Disinfection System® is featured in a white paper published in the American Journal of Infection Control’s (AJIC) April issue.

The white paper is titled “Evaluation of an Aerosolized Hydrogen Peroxide Disinfection System for the Reduction of Clostridioides difficile Hospital Infection Rates Over a 10 Year Period.” It reports on a study that retrospectively examines the implementation of the Halo Disinfection System®, Halosil’s hydrogen peroxide and silver-based no touch decontamination system, for the reduction of C. diff infection (CDI) rates over a 10-year period at Pennsylvania Hospital, a Penn Medicine facility located in Philadelphia.

For the study, the utilization of the aerosolized hydrogen peroxide (aHP) system was consistently monitored. With over 90% fogging compliance year after year, the results suggest that aHP contributed to a reduction in CDI rates over the five years before and after period, along with another five years of continued success as an addition to regular cleaning practices. The addition of the Halosil Disinfection System as part of terminal cleaning in the hospital resulted in a 41% reduction in HA-CDI rates.

“Hospitals, by nature, are subject to the threat of an assortment of dangerous pathogens, and it’s truly critical to prevent their spread. The Halo Disinfection System raises the standard for whole room disinfection, and is proven to kill 99.9999% of C. diffcile spores, delivering the highest possible effectiveness of hospital disinfectants on the market today,” said Maryalice St. Clair, Chief Commercial Officer at Halosil International. “As seen in the white paper, the Halo Disinfection System has significantly contributed to the reduction in CDI rates at Pennsylvania Hospital, a busy healthcare environment.”

Finding effective hospital disinfectants is a significant challenge for today’s facility administrators and infection control professionals, but many popular solutions lack the efficiency and efficacy required to kill infectious materials in complex hospital environments. The Halo Disinfection System delivers HaloMist disinfectant (EPA Reg. No. 84526-6) via a dry fog to reach germs in all the cracks and crevices where they lurk. By leveraging Halosil’s proprietary formula with the HaloFogger®, a proven, dry mist fogging solution, The Halo Disinfection System® empowers infection prevention teams to achieve a proven, 6-log kill rate in the diverse spaces and places found in hospitals.
